Dr. Trinity Davis

President and Founder, Teachers Like Me

 

Navigating systems of inequalities has been the focus of Dr. Trinity Davis for 24 years. She was a teacher, coach, Associate Professor, and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum before founding Teachers Like Me in 2020. Teachers Like Me is an organization dedicated to recruiting, developing, and retaining Black teachers in Kansas City. The mission of Dr. Davis is to increase the number of quality Black teachers in public education.

Trinity Davis received her Ph. D. at Kansas State University. She is the wife of Edward Davis and mother of Jade (17) and Noah (14).


Demicco E. Witherspoon is a distinguished educator with over two decades of experience, primarily focused on middle and high school mathematics. Her journey in education commenced at Central Middle School in Kansas City, Kansas, where she led the eighth-grade team, implementing district-mandated reading programs and fostering an environment of scholastic excellence. Demicco's influence extended to Central High School, where she served as the Department Chair of the Mathematics Department, leaving an indelible mark on both students and colleagues alike. Her dedication to educational excellence is underscored by advanced degrees in Education, culminating in Education Specialist degrees in Curriculum & Instruction Leadership and Administration K-12 School Leadership.

In addition to her classroom endeavors, Demicco's role expanded when she joined Teachers Like Me in 2020, initially as a member of the Teacher Advisory Board. She now serves as an Instructional Coordinator, providing crucial support to educators participating in the program. Demicco's extensive experience, coupled with a nuanced understanding of the challenges faced by educators, positions her as a mentor and advocate for teachers within the Teachers Like Me community. Her impact is felt not only in the classroom but also in the broader educational community, where she contributes to professional education organizations and shares her expertise at esteemed conferences. Demicco E. Witherspoon's legacy in education is marked by an unwavering dedication to the art of teaching and a commitment to the growth of both students and fellow educators.

Jorge Fuller

Recruitment & Retention Coordinator , Teachers Like Me

Jorge Fuller is a dynamic educator and aspiring leader with a profound passion for empowering youth in underserved environments. With over a decade of experience, he has honed expertise in STEM and STEAM curriculum, successfully bridging the gap between education and real-world application. Jorge's impact extends beyond the classroom, as exemplified by his role as a Surge Institute Fellow, where he developed essential leadership skills to further his trajectory in education. His dedication to advancing diversity and inclusion is evident in his collaborations with organizations like Engage KC and UMKC Upward Bound, demonstrating his commitment to creating opportunities for youth in the community.

As a Recruitment & Retention Coordinator at Teachers Like Me, Jorge plays a pivotal role in recruiting and supporting participants in their journey towards teacher certification. His responsibilities encompass coordinating professional development, analyzing participant progress, and establishing culturally authentic learning experiences. Prior to this, Jorge served as a Human Resources Recruiter at Kansas City Public Schools, where he acted as a cultural steward, ensuring that prospective candidates aligned with the district's vision. Jorge Fuller's exceptional ability to cultivate talent, coupled with his dedication to diversity and inclusion, makes him a formidable force in the realm of education.
