COHORTS

More Than a Program. A Community of Educators.

A Teachers Like Me cohort is a supportive, culturally connected community of Black educators committed to growing professionally, serving Kansas City students, and remaining in education.

Cohort members move through their teaching journeys together while receiving professional development, mentorship, certification guidance, career support, and opportunities to build meaningful relationships with other educators.

What Is a TLM Cohort?

A cohort is a group of educators selected to participate in the Teachers Like Me support model.

Members may include:

  • Certified teachers

  • Teachers completing certification requirements

  • Education-degree graduates

  • Subject-area degree holders pursuing certification

  • Alternative-certification candidates

  • Undergraduate or graduate students preparing to teach

  • Educators relocating to the Kansas City area

Each participant follows an appropriate certification and career pathway while benefiting from the encouragement, resources, and shared experiences of the larger cohort.

Three Years of Teaching. Three Years of Support.

Teachers Like Me asks participating educators to make a three-year commitment to teaching in a Kansas City–area partner school.

Throughout that commitment, TLM works to provide a comprehensive support system addressing the professional and personal needs that can affect teacher success and retention.
