Introducing the Twenty-Twenty Campaign

In 2020, in the middle of a pandemic, Dr. Trinity Davis left Kansas City Public Schools to build Teachers Like Me. She had seen the same need throughout her career: more Black educators, and more students learning from teachers who reflect and understand their communities.
Six cohorts later, that work is real and growing. Teachers Like Me recruits, develops and supports Black educators in Kansas City classrooms, from affordable housing to mentorship to professional learning. Cohort 6 is in classrooms now, and Cohort 7 is on the way.
Today we are inviting our community to own the next chapter.
Introducing the Twenty-Twenty Campaign
2,000 people. $20 a month. Our students' future.
The name carries two meanings: 2020, the year Teachers Like Me was founded, and $20, the monthly gift that lets anyone become part of what comes next. Together, 2,000 monthly donors create dependable support that helps us plan cohorts, housing and staffing with confidence.
This is not a startup campaign. It is a scale campaign. Major philanthropic partners helped establish this work. Now we are asking our neighbors, educators, congregations, alumni, chapters and businesses to stand alongside them.
Why it matters
Students are the reason. Teachers are the strategy. When excellent educators reflect the communities they serve, students see what is possible for themselves. Recruiting teachers is only half the job; helping them stay and grow is the other half, and that is where Teachers Like Me puts its focus.
